EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France — Malaysia native Mirabel Ting is making her professional debut this week at The Amundi Evian Championship.

The now former Florida State University Seminole announced via a letter on Instagram on July 3 that she was leaving the college after two years to pursue her dreams of playing professional golf on the LPGA Tour, expressing her gratitude for the experience she had as a member of the women’s golf team at FSU. Ting also played one year of collegiate golf at Augusta University.

“To everyone who’s supported me along the way – thank you from the bottom of my heart,” a portion of Ting’s letter read. “A 10-year-old Mirabel could never have imagined this moment, but after years of dedication and heart, I’m proud to announce that I’m turning professional and chasing my dream of playing on the LPGA Tour. I can’t wait to see where this journey leads.

“It’s been an absolute honor to be a Seminole. Once a Nole, always a Nole.”

Ting had a standout career during her time at Florida State, earning medalist honors a total of seven times, five of which came during the 2024-25 season. Because of that performance, the 19-year-old won the 2025 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel and was named the 2025 PING WGCA Player of the Year. She was also the ACC Golfer of the Year, made the All-ACC Team for a second consecutive season and was recognized as an All-American by both the WGCA and Golfweek.

She was additionally a member of two International Teams at the Arnold Palmer Cup, playing in both the 2024 and 2025 editions of the collegiate team event. Ting competed in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur each of the last two years, earning a career-best T8 finish in 2024.

Ting had teed it up in just one other LPGA Tour event before this week’s Amundi Evian Championship, playing in the 2024 Maybank Championship in her home country of Malaysia as a sponsor exemption and ultimately finishing in a tie for 12th at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

Ting had recorded 10 points thus far in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway, a new program announced earlier this season that provides top amateur athletes a path to LPGA Tour membership. This program sees them accrue points based on accomplishments they rack up as amateurs in pursuit of an LPGA Tour card.

Her 10 points were the second-most in the current standings, as Ting was only eight points behind her fellow FSU Seminole Lottie Woad, who is poised to meet the 20-point threshold needed to qualify for LPGA Tour membership in one of her next three LPGA Tour starts.

Because of her decision to turn professional, Ting will be removed from the LEAP standings when she hits her first tee shot on Thursday at The Amundi Evian Championship. This is her first time competing in a major championship on the LPGA Tour.
