Jin Young Ko broke Lorena Ochoa’s record for most career weeks spent as Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 on June 26, 2023.

The Republic of Korea native had reclaimed the top spot on May 22, 2023, not long after winning that year’s Founders Cup at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, N.J., and Monday, June 26 saw her reach 159 career weeks as world No. 1, surpassing the 158-week benchmark that Ochoa created in 2010.

Ko was ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings until July 30, 2023, setting a new record with 163 career weeks. The next closest active athlete to that threshold is LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko, who has spent 125 total weeks at the top of the Rolex Rankings throughout her LPGA Tour career.

Ko first became Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 on April 8, 2019, and is one of five Koreans to have that accolade on their career resumes alongside So Yeon Ryu, Inbee Park, Sung Hyun Park and Jiyai Shin. She has not reascended to the first position since the 2023 season.

The Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings were launched on February 21, 2006, and a total of 18 athletes have climbed to world No. 1. American Nelly Korda is currently at the top of the Rolex Rankings, having held the position since March 25, 2024, and recently surpassed 100 career weeks as No. 1 on Monday, June 2.

Only Korda, Jin Young Ko, Lydia Ko, Ochoa, Inbee Park and Yani Tseng have spent 100 or more weeks at No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings.
