LPGA Hall of Famer Juli Inkster became the fourth woman in LPGA history to finish the Career Grand Slam on June 27, 1999, when she won the McDonald’s LPGA Championship at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.

She beat Sweden’s Liselotte Neumann by four strokes en route to her Grand Slam-securing victory, and her LPGA Championship win was the second consecutive major title that Inkster had collected that season, as she had won the U.S. Women’s Open at Old Waverly Golf Club in Mississippi earlier in the month.

The Californian buried her roughly 30-foot birdie attempt on the final hole in Delaware to close out her victory and famously busted out some dance moves in celebration of the history that she made, a boogie that was well-deserved considering the decade it took her to polish off one of the most coveted achievements in all of golf.

“I won two pretty quick, and I didn't think it was going to be that tough,'' Inkster said in a 1999 article in The New York Times written by Ron Sirak. “I can't comprehend it. I want to savor this. I worked really hard the last three years to get back to where I should be.”

Inkster joined Louise Suggs, Mickey Wright and Pat Bradley as just the fourth LPGA Tour athlete at that time to have finished the Career Grand Slam, a list that has since been lengthened by Karrie Webb, Annika Sorenstam and Inbee Park.

She captured a total of 31 victories during her time actively competing on the LPGA Tour, the last of which came at the Safeway International in 2006, and seven wins of which were major championships. In addition to her 1999 victories at the U.S. Women’s Open and what is now known as the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Inkster won the 1984 and 1989 Nabisco Dinah Shores, currently referred to as The Chevron Championship; took home the 1984 du Maurier Classic title; successfully defended at the 2000 McDonald’s LPGA Championship; and won her last major at the 2002 U.S. Women’s Open at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Wichita, Kan.

Inkster won the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award in 1984 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2000. She was recognized with the LPGA Founders Award in 2004 and 2015 and represented the United States in the Solheim Cup, both as a player on nine teams and as a captain of three teams.
