After three days of round-robin group play and the round of 16 matches at the 2025 T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards, the field has been trimmed to just eight players, who will square off Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals at Shadow Creek Golf Course. With just three more match-play sessions to go, there are a few hot-handed athletes who are hoping to be the ones contending for the title on Sunday afternoon and who have a great shot at hoisting a trophy just down the road from the Las Vegas Strip.

Jeeno Thitikul

One of the obvious favorites this week, the Thailand native has tackled this match-play format beautifully thus far in Sin City. Thitikul was a member of group 2 for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday rounds at Shadow Creek and handily advanced to the weekend in Vegas after defeating all three of her fellow pool members. The 22-year-old trounced Danielle Kang 6 and 5 on day one of group play and then backed that up with a 2-and-1 victory over Gaby Lopez in the second round of matches. She again handled business on Friday, beating Republic of Korea native Hye-Jin Choi 5 and 3 to earn her third group-play point and advance to Saturday at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. The round of 16 matches saw a hot-handed Thitikul take down Nataliya Guseva 8 and 7 to earn a berth in quarterfinals and move one step closer to earning her fifth career LPGA Tour title at Shadow Creek. This is Thitikul’s second start ever in this event, and she has already drastically improved upon her performance as a rookie in 2022, a year that saw her fail to advance to the single-elimination portion of the competition.

Angel Yin

Angel Yin has plenty of match-play experience to lean on, having played on three U.S. Solheim Cup Teams and amassed a 5-3-1 record in the biennial team competition. So it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see the California native in the quarterfinal matches at the 2025 T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. The 26-year-old went undefeated in the round-robin group play portion of the competition, earning two and a half points over the first three days at Shadow Creek Golf Course. She halved her match with Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn on Wednesday and then needed all 18 holes on Thursday to win 1 up over defending champion Pajaree Anannarukarn. Yin had her largest margin of victory on Friday, winning 4 and 3 over Jin Hee Im to earn her second full point and advance to the round of 16. She handily beat reigning Louise Suggs Rolex Rooke of the Year Mao Saigo 3 and 2 on Saturday morning and now finds herself in the quarterfinal matches for the second consecutive year. Yin has teed it up in the T-Mobile Match Play three previous times – tying for fifth in 2024, tying for ninth in 2023 and tying for 35th in 2022 – and the Honda LPGA Thailand winner is working to survive the next two sessions in an effort to pick up her second title of the 2025 LPGA Tour season.

Maja Stark

As a two-time European Solheim Cup Team member with a 3-2-2 career record in the biennial team competition, Stark knows what it takes to be successful in match play and has once again demonstrated her propensity for the format this week at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. She went undefeated in round-robin group play with no ties, earning three points after winning her matches over her groupmates Hyo Joo Kim, Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Bailey Tardy. The 25-year-old got her week started with a 3-and-2 win over Koerstz Madsen, and she also defeated Epson Tour alum Tardy by that same margin on day two in Las Vegas. Friday then saw Stark outlast last week’s Ford Championship winner Hyo Joo Kim 2 and 1, a gritty performance that earned her a berth in the round of 16 matches on Saturday morning. Stark kept things rolling on day four in the Nevada desert, this time beating Canadian major champion Brooke Henderson 5 and 4 to advance to the quarterfinals and still have an opportunity to pick up her second career title on the LPGA Tour. This is Stark’s third appearance in the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards, and with her morning victory at Shadow Creek, she is set to improve upon her tournament-best result of T9 that she recorded in her debut in this event back in 2023.
