SEOUL, Republic of Korea — The Republic of Korea and World Teams faced off in the second four-ball session on Friday at the 2025 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown at New Korea Country Club. Korea’s Jin Young Ko and Haeran Ryu played against Chinese Taipei’s Wei-Ling Hsu and Canadian Brooke Henderson, while Hyo Joo Kim and Hye-Jin Choi took on England’s Charley Hull and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko in the final match of the day.

Jin Young Ko/Haeran Ryu vs. Wei-Ling Hsu/Brooke Henderson

Score: Tied

One of the most anticipated matchups of the round-robin matches kicked off with Jin Young Ko and Haeran Ryu going against Wei-Ling Hsu and Brooke Henderson. The match was back and forth all day, with no team holding a lead bigger than 1 up and for longer than three holes.

The World Team got on the board first, with a birdie from Henderson on the par-3 second hole. The Korean Team got the hole right back in front of the home crowd with a birdie on the third hole before falling behind once again on the fourth hole due to another Henderson birdie. Ko’s third birdie of the day resulted in a winning hole on the par-4 seventh, moving the match back into a tie.

The match remained tied until Ryu broke the deadlock by rolling in a birdie on the par-4 12th hole, her fourth of the match. Korea held the 1-up lead for two more holes but Henderson again birdied to move the match back to a tie heading into the final three holes.

A birdie from Ryu on the par-3 16th gave Korea the lead with two to play as the pair tried to get their first full point on the board. Unfortunately, the Korean Team ran into the buzzsaw that was Brooke Henderson on Friday afternoon, as she rolled in another birdie on the last hole to ultimately tie the match for the World Team.

“I was just telling Brooke on 18 when she holed that putt uphill like, oh, my God, this is incredible,” explained Hsu. “All my hair stand up and I feel like, whoa, what a match we had today.”

Score: World Team wins 1 up

The second match between Korea and the World Team matched up just as well as the first, with the match coming down to the 18th green as well. Hyo Joo Kim and Hye-Jin Choi took on the powerhouse duo of Lydia Ko and Charley Hull, with both teams pushing each other to the end.

The World Team took the first hole but lost it right after with the teams trading birdies two start the day. The World Team did not trail all day but they also never had a lead greater than 2 up, which they ultimately battled back to a tie from. The 2-up lead came with Hull birdies on the par-4 fifth and 11th holes.

Choi would cut the lead down to one with a birdie on the par-3 13th hole, and then another birdie was needed from the Korean Team to win the par-5 17th with going into the final hole of day two. Ko came up clutch on the final holes of the round on day one, but on day two, it was Hull’s time to shine and she did just that. A birdie putt on the last hole fell for the Englishwoman to give her team a much-needed full point against the home team.

“Felt like Lydia hit it a lot closer than me, but Lydia's putt she greened it, because it was on a massive slope. So I knew like I had a big hill to putt up. It was like, I don't know, 12 feet,” explained Hull on her winning putt. “But I managed to whack it, but I don't want to whack it too hard because I don't want to have a fiddler coming back. So just thought hole it and save the stress.”
