SEOUL, Republic of Korea — The semifinal matches at the 2025 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown took place on Sunday morning at New Korea Country Club. The United States Team faced off with Japan in the first semifinal after finishing atop Pool A, and the World Team, who led Pool B following the three four-ball sessions, took on the Australians from Pool A in the second semifinal of the day.

Take a look at what happened in each of the six a.m. matches in the Republic of Korea and find out who will battle for the title of Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown champions in the final match on Sunday afternoon.

Semifinal 1: United States Team vs. Japan Team

Angel Yin vs. Rio Takeda

Score: Yin wins 2 and 1

Playing in the first singles match of the semifinals, American Angel Yin took down Japanese rookie Rio Takeda, 2 and 1, on Sunday morning at New Korea Country Club to help the United States advance to the final match of the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.

Takeda took an early 1-up lead when she won the first hole over Yin, but Yin tied the match when she birdied the par-3 sixth hole. Yin then won No. 7 to move one ahead of Takeda and landed another punch on the par-5 eighth hole to climb to 2 up.

Takeda got back to 1 down when she won the 11th hole, but Yin recovered and took the 12th to once again hold a 2-up advantage with six holes remaining. Takeda then won 13 to get back to 1 down, a margin that stood until Yin won 16 to go 2 up with two holes to play.

The American ultimately closed out her Japanese counterpart, 2 and 1, on the 17th hole to tally the first of the two points the United States Team earned in the semifinals, a performance that helped the Red, White and Blue move on to the finals.

“We played great. We knew how much it meant,” Yin said. “Obviously, going off first, 7:00 in the morning, the sun wasn't even up when we were playing golf already. So I don't know, (it was) just good golf all around. Make a bogey, lose a hole. If you make a par, you could lose a hole, too. It was really tight competition. Everybody was making putts and playing good golf.”

Yealimi Noh vs. Miyu Yamashita

Score: Noh wins 4 and 2

Yealimi Noh won the second match in the first semifinal, 4 and 2, over Japanese major champion Miyu Yamashita to secure the Americans’ position in the final match at New Korea Country Club.

The match was tied until Yamashita won the par-5 fourth hole to go 1 up on Noh, but the American responded and won five to level the score with her Japanese counterpart. Noh grabbed a 1-up lead when she won the par-4 ninth hole with birdie, extending that advantage to two when she also landed a punch on the 10th.

Yamashita won 12 to get back to 1 down, but Noh answered and birdied 13 to get back to 2 up with five holes remaining. Noh moved to 3 up when she won 15, also winning the 16th hole to close out the match 4 and 2 and send the Americans to the finals at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.

“Just have fun with it,” Noh said of the United States’ mindset with an opportunity to win the International Crown for the first time since 2016. “We're in the finals. Just play some good golf out there.”

Lilia Vu/Lauren Coughlin vs. Ayaka Furue/Mao Saigo

Score: Japan 1 up through 16 holes

Angel Yin and Yealimi Noh secured the team’s spot in the finals with their singles victories in the first Sunday morning semifinal at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown, making the foursomes match between Lilia Vu and Lauren Coughlin inconsequential.

Japan took the lead on the third hole at New Korea Country Club and never relinquished it, ultimately being awarded a 1-up victory on the 16th hole after the United States won the two singles matches. The Americans advanced to the final match with an opportunity to win their first Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown since the 2016 edition of the event that was held at the Merit Club.

Semifinal 2: World Team vs. Australia Team

Charley Hull vs. Hannah Green

Score: Hull wins 2 and 1

Englishwoman Charley Hull defeated Australian Hannah Green in the first singles match of the second Sunday morning semifinal to tally one point for the World Team as they pursued a spot in the final match at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.

Hull took an early 1-up lead when she won the first hole at New Korea Country Club, quickly moving ahead of Green when she took the second hole. Hull moved to three ahead after she parred the par-4 third hole, and she held that 3-up lead until Green won her first hole of the match on the par-5 eighth.

But the opponents then tied the next eight holes, with Hull closing out the match, 2 and 1, on 17 to win a point for the World Team, their only point they earned in their semifinal match with Australia.

Brooke Henderson vs. Minjee Lee

Score: Lee wins 1 up

Australian Minjee Lee came back from a 3-down deficit late to win her match over Canadian Brooke Henderson in the second semifinal on Sunday morning at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.

Henderson came out swinging for the World Team, winning the first hole to go 1 up early, but Lee tied the match on the second hole. Henderson regained her 1-up advantage with a birdie on three and extended her lead to two when she won the par-5 fourth hole.

The 14-time LPGA Tour winner moved three ahead when she won the par-5 8th hole, and that’s how the match stood until Lee got one back with a birdie on the par-3 13th hole. The Australian major champion then won 14 to trail Henderson by one, tying the match when she birdied 16.

The odds flipped in Lee’s favor when she won the par-5 17th hole with a birdie to give herself a 1-up lead over Henderson heading to the last hole at New Korea Country Club. And when the opponents tied with pars on 18 after each missed their respective birdie putts, Lee wound up securing a critical point for the Aussies, who ultimately advanced to the final match.

It’s the second consecutive Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown that the Australians have been in the championship match, as they faced the victorious Thailand Team in 2023 at TPC Harding Park. They are joined in the 2025 finals by the one-seed United States Team.

Wei-Ling Hsu/Lydia Ko vs. Stephanie Kyriacou/Grace Kim

Score: Australia wins in 20 holes

The last spot in the finals was up for grabs with only one match left on the course. The World Team’s Lydia Ko and Wei-Ling Hsu battled for 20 holes against Australia’s Steph Kyriacou and Grace Kim.

The World duo got out to a quick 1-up start, winning the first hole with a birdie on the par-4. The Aussies tied the match on the fourth hole, before going down two holes after losing back-to-back holes on seven and eight.

Despite falling behind, the Australians’ faith never wavered, and the pair came roaring back on the final nine holes. They won the 11th hole with a birdie and then matched the World Team on every shot heading into 18 but still remained 1 down.

Both teams hit good approaches into the 18th green, but Kyriacou stuck hers within 10 feet just left and long of the hole. A missed putt from over 25 feet from Ko set up Kim with a quick but makeable birdie putt. The stroke from the 24-year-old was clean and the ball caught the left side of the cup, sending the match into extra holes.

The first extra hole was tied with pars after both teams missed the green and got up and down for par. The second playoff hole saw the World Team hit a wayward drive off the tee, resulting in a punch-out and opening the door for the Australians.

The Aussies took advantage, hitting the green and setting up a birdie putt. The World Team missed the green on their approach, landing in the bunker short. The shot from the bunker was good but did not fall, leaving the Aussies with just two putts to win. A lag putt from Kim sealed the victory, sending the Australians to the finals for the second straight International Crown.
