SEOUL, Republic of Korea — Thailand and the People’s Republic of China squared up on Saturday in the last four-ball session of the week at the 2025 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown. Both countries needed to secure at least one point to have a chance to advance to Sunday play at New Korea Country Club, but their respective fates also depended upon the outcome of the match between the United States and Australia.

Here's what transpired between the five and eight seeds on day three in the Republic of Korea.

Score: Thailand wins 3 and 1

Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul and two-time LPGA Tour winner Pajaree Anannarukarn beat Yan Liu and Weiwei Zhang of the People’s Republic of China, 3 and 1, on Saturday at New Korea Country Club.

After the two countries tied the first two holes, Thailand took a 1-up lead over China when they won the par-4 3rd hole, moving two ahead by winning the fourth hole. Thitikul and Anannarukarn extended their lead to three after taking the fifth hole, but China landed a punch on the par-3 sixth hole to get back to 2 down.

The Thailand Team maintained their 2-up lead until China won 12 to then trail their Thai counterparts by one. However, Thitikul and Anannarukarn were undeterred, winning both 16 and 17 with birdies to polish off their opponents and win the match, 3 and 1.

Neither the People’s Republic of China nor Thailand Teams advanced to the Sunday semifinal matches, as each team earned just two points across the three four-ball sessions.

Score: People’s Republic of China wins 2 and 1

Ruixin Liu and Ruoning Yin of the People’s Republic of China recovered from a 3-down deficit to win their match against Chanettee Wannasaen and Jasmine Suwannapura, 2 and 1, in Saturday’s final four-ball session of the 2025 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.

The Thailand Team took a 1-up lead early when Wannasaen birdied the first hole and then moved to 2 up when the two-time LPGA Tour winner birdied the par-4 fifth hole. China got a shot back by winning the par-3 sixth hole, but Thailand answered, once again moving to 2 up when they took the seventh hole.

Wannasaen and Suwannapura’s lead was extended to three after they won the par-5 eighth hole, and that was about the time China got to work chipping away at their disadvantage. Liu birdied the par-4 ninth hole to get the China squad back to 2 down and then birdied the 10th to trail Thailand by one.

The Epson Tour champion made a third straight birdie on the par-4 11th hole to level the match, but Thailand’s Suwannapura dropped in a birdie on the par-3 13th hole to regain a 1-up lead. Yin tied things back up when she chipped in for birdie on the par-4 15th hole, and China once again moved one ahead of Thailand when Liu birdied 16. Liu threw one last knockout punch at Wannasaen and Suwannapura by making birdie on 17, which secured her team a 2-and-1 victory.

While that hard-fought point will certainly make dinner taste better for the People’s Republic of China Team, they ultimately did not advance to the Sunday semifinals, finishing the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown with two points in Pool A.
