EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France — Yuri Yoshida carded her career-low round on the LPGA Tour on Moving Day at The Amundi Evian Championship.

The 25-year-old Japan native blitzed Evian Resort Golf Club in the third round, firing a bogey-free 8-under 63 to vault from a tie for 38th and into contention with 18 holes remaining in the year’s fourth major tournament. Yoshida was in the first group off one on Saturday and quickly made a move with birdies on the par-4 1st and 3rd holes.

She picked up a pair of back-to-back birdies on the par-5 7th and par-3 8th holes to turn in 31 and rode the par train for the first four holes of the back nine to hold her position at 5-under overall. Yoshida then ripped off three straight birdies on the par-3 14th, par-5 15th and par-3 16th holes to climb to 7-under on the round and 8-under for the tournament, landing one final blow with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to polish off her 63.

“That's perfect,” Yoshida said about her closing five holes. “No. 18 was a very difficult bunker shot. That's an amazing shot, I think.”

The score is Yoshida’s new low round on the LPGA Tour, besting her previous benchmark of 64 that she recorded on the second day of the 2025 Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass by one stroke. It ties the lowest third-round score in the history of The Amundi Evian Championship, which was first shot by Ryann O’Toole back in 2018, and her 63 is the low round of the week in Evian-les-Bains, France, a score that was matched by Epson Tour winner Ruixin Liu also in round three.

“I'm very happy, and it's my best score of my career on LPGA,” said Yoshida, who hit 12 of 13 fairways and 16 of 18 greens on Saturday. “Big, big Moving Day for me. I got eight birdies. I can't believe that.”

Yoshida is in her second year as an LPGA Tour member, having joined the organization last year, and she is making her tournament debut this week at The Amundi Evian Championship. This is her 13th start of the 2025 season, and in her 12 previous events, Yoshida has made nine cuts and earned just one top-10 finish, a tie for sixth that came a couple of weeks ago at the Dow Championship in Midland, Mich.

Now, she will have a shot at becoming both the third first-time major champion of the year and a Rolex First-Time Winner on Sunday in France, as Yoshida is just two shots back of 54-hole co-leaders Cara Gainer and Gabriela Ruffels. But as much as she wants to be the one to ultimately hoist the trophy come the end of the final round at Evian Resort Golf Club, Yoshida is also just as interested in racking up always-important points in the Race to the CME Globe.

“I know I need more points this year in the rankings,” Yoshida said, “so I want to get more birdies tomorrow.”
