Amanda Doherty is making the most of her limited starts on the LPGA Tour this season.

Doherty carded a 1-under 69 on Saturday at Maketewah Country Club to hold solo second place heading into the final round of the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G.

In only her third LPGA Tour start of the year, the Florida State University graduate has split time this season between the LPGA and Epson Tours. Yet, she looked entirely at home under third-round pressure, overcoming a tight afternoon to put herself in prime championship contention.

Doherty, who entered the week ranked No. 420 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, relied on steady ball-striking to stay in the hunt. She hit 9 of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens in regulation, translating that accuracy into three birdies against two bogeys.

The performance followed a grueling opening 36 holes where Doherty held the outright lead, a position she admitted was a difficult mental hurdle to carry into the weekend.

"I feel like I handled it well," Doherty said after her round. "I stuck to my game plan. I didn't hit it awesome, but I got it around all right."

Doherty earned LPGA Tour status after a breakout season on the Epson Tour in 2021, where she finished seventh in the Race for the Card standing. During the season, she made 13 cuts in 19 starts and collected eight top-10 finishes.

Excited to play in Sunday's final group alongside Lottie Woad, the Epson Tour graduate has a chance to rewrite her season with a potential breakthrough victory on the line.
