Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol posted a final-round 2-under 70 Sunday to finish solo second at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, closing at 13-under 275 at El Camaleon Golf Course, four shots behind winner Nelly Korda. The 23-year-old's runner-up result in the second edition of the event marks the best finish of her young LPGA Tour career.

Yubol, who entered the final round in solo second at 11-under 205, went out alongside Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Korda in the final pairing. She matched Korda's energy early, picking up a birdie on the par-3 fourth hole to recover from a bogey on the second before adding another birdie on the par-5 fifth to climb to 12-under overall through five holes. She turned in 35.

On the back nine, Yubol briefly threatened with a birdie on the par-4 14th to reach 13-under, but a double bogey on the par-4 16th hole dropped her back to 11-under. She answered immediately with a birdie on No. 17 and closed with a birdie on the par-5 18th to sign for 70 and a 13-under total.

"It's kind of [a] fun day for me," said Yubol. "She is like the World No. 1, right? Of course I'm very excited to play with her. I think I can control my game actually better than yesterday."

The round carried added personal meaning for Yubol, who celebrated her birthday today and had her father caddying for her. The result provided both emotional and financial relief heading into a critical stretch of the season.

"Finish two is kind of winner for me, too," Yubol said. "It feels like that, because I can make birdie on the last hole to finish. Big gift for me, like big money again for me and my dad [to] share together"

It was Yubol's first top-10 of the season in five starts, with three cuts made coming in.

Yu Liu of the People's Republic of China had a strong Sunday of her own, firing a 3-under 69 to finish solo third at 12-under 276, five shots behind Korda.

Liu started the final round in a tie for fourth at 9-under 207 and quickly made her move. She birdied the par-4 first hole to reach 10-under and added another birdie on the par-3 fourth hole to climb to 11-under through four holes. She turned in 34.

The back nine saw some give-and-take. After a bogey on the par-4 12th dropped her to 10-under, Liu responded with a birdie on the 14th to get back to 11-under. A second bogey on the 16th moved her back again, but she birdied both No. 17 and the par-5 18th hole to close with a 69 and post 12-under for the week.

"It was definitely a very full circle moment on the last hole where I get to birdie the last two, which was definitely felt just a touch better with coming in with two birdies," Liu said. "Very happy about how I handled myself out there this week."

The result was Liu's best finish of the 2026 season and moved her into contention for a spot in next week's Mizuho Americas Open. She entered the week ranked outside the top 60 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings but steadily built her case across four competitive rounds.

"It means so much because this is a course that really challenges all parts of your game," Liu said. "I felt like thankfully I was able to bring my pretty top game out there, and I also learned a lot throughout my four rounds."

Liu's top-20 finishes this season now include a tie for fifth at the Blue Bay LPGA, a T19 at the Fortinet Founders Cup, a T18 at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro, and her solo third Sunday at Mayakoba.

The LPGA Tour heads next to West Caldwell, N.J., for the Mizuho Americas Open at Mountain Ridge Country Club, scheduled for May 7-10.
