Arpichaya Yubol carded a bogey-free, 6-under 66 on Thursday to move into a share of second place after the first round of the Standard Portland Classic at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, one stroke behind leader Mariel Galdiano.

Yubol, of Thailand, opened her round on the back nine and made the turn in 34 before catching fire on the front. She closed with six birdies and 12 pars to reach 6-under through one round. Galdiano leads with a 7-under 65.

After starting with pars on Nos. 10 and 11, Yubol birdied the par-5 12th hole to reach 1-under, added another birdie on the par-4 14th hole to move to 2-under and played the rest of the back nine in par.

She kept the momentum going on the front nine, birdieing the par-4 first hole to reach 3-under, then adding back-to-back birdies on the par-5 fifth and par-5 seventh to climb to 5-under. A birdie on the eighth hole pushed her to 6-under before a closing par on the ninth sealed the 66, giving her a 32 on her final nine holes.

“It's kind of [been] a solid day for me, and especially my putter,” Yubol said. “Today it's just like 23 putts, so that's incredible. I think that's my first time I've got [to] 23 putts per round. And it's kind of consistent — fairway, mostly I can put the ball on the fairway, and then I can make consistent [approaches], like [hitting] the par-4 second [green] in [two] and the par-5 [in] three, and then can make a putt.”

Yubol credited recent pro-am rounds with sharpening her focus under pressure.

“I've been play[ing] pro-ams on Monday and Wednesday, so that's kind of teach[ing] me how much [I need] to focus to make one putt,” she said. “We play scramble, and sometimes it put[s] a little pressure on you [because] you have to make [that] putt for [your team]. I learn[ed] from that, and then I spend more time on the putting green before I go on the course, and it's kind of work[ing].”

Thursday's round marked a strong start to Yubol's fourth appearance at the event, where she has tied for 21st in 2025, tied for 30th in 2024 and missed the cut in her 2023 debut.

The 24-year-old has made nine cuts in 14 starts this season, with two top-10 finishes — a solo second at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba and a solo second at the ShopRite LPGA Classic powered by Wakefern. She is still seeking her first LPGA Tour victory.

With three rounds remaining at Columbia Edgewater, Yubol will look to build on Thursday's momentum as she chases her maiden Tour title.
