Portland has long-welcomed the best in the women’s game and that tradition continues again this season as the 54th playing of The Standard Portland Classic gets underway Thursday. The longest running non-major tournament on the LPGA Tour’s schedule returns once more to its longtime home at Columbia Edgewater Country Club for this year’s tournament, where 144 players will compete for a $2 mil purse. Here’s a look at some of the groups to keep an eye on during the opening rounds in Portland.

Thursday, 7:59 a.m., 10th tee; Friday, 12:59 p.m., 1st tee - Ruoning Yin, Lauren Coughlin, Andrea Lee

After enjoying a hot stretch through the spring in which she racked up five top 10s in six starts, Yin arrives in Portland off a missed cut at the AIG Women’s Open. She’ll be looking to recapture the magic she found in recent months as she returns to Portland where she was tied for third in 2023. Coughlin is already a winner this season at the Aramco Championship and comes to Portland off a strong showing at the AIG Women’s Open where she was tied for 16th. Coughlin has two top 10s at Columbia Edgewater in six starts including a tie for seventh last season and a tie for ninth in 2024. Lee won her first title on the LPGA Tour at The Standard Portland Classic in 2022 and would love nothing more than to add another victory to her resume. Lee has a single top 10 this season on the LPGA Tour and missed the cut in her last start at the final major championship of the year.

Thursday, 8:10 a.m., 10th tee; Friday, 1:10 p.m., 1st tee - Haeran Ryu, Hinako Shibuno, Chizzy Iwai

Ryu has been one of the hottest players on the planet in recent weeks and will look to keep that success rolling with another win this week. Since May, Ryu hasn’t finished worse than a tie for sixth, which came in her last start at the AIG Women’s Open, and won back-to-back major championships through the summer. In addition, Ryu has seven top 10s on the year and was tied for seventh last season in Portland. Shibuno will look to get her season back on track as she arrives at Columbia Edgewater Country Club having missed the cut in two of her last four starts, including at the final major championship of the season. Shibuno has played well in Portland where she’s never missed the cut in five prior starts. Iwai returns to Portland in pursuit of her first win of the season having already racked up seven top 10s this year. Iwai was tied for third in Portland in 2026.

Thursday, 1:10 p.m., 1st tee; Friday, 8:10 a.m., 19th tee - Jeeno Thitikul, Aki Iwai, Lottie Woad

Already a two-time winner this season on the LPGA Tour, Thitikul heads to Portland in the midst of a hot streak with top-10 finishes in her last three starts. She was tied for fourth at the AIG Women’s Open in her last start. Iwai will seek to go back-to-back in Portland where she won her maiden LPGA Tour title in 2025. Iwai ran away from the field with rounds of 64-66 on the weekend to win by four strokes. Iwai has seven top 10s through the season so far, but is coming off a tie for 61st in her last start at the AIG Women’s Open. Woad has done a nice job of navigating new courses during her first full season on the LPGA Tour as she won for the second time on Tour in May and has five more top 10s this season on the LPGA Tour. She’ll be learning yet another new course as she makes her tournament debut this week at The Standard Portland Classic.

Thursday, 1:21 p.m., 1st tee; Friday, 8:21 a.m., 10th tee - Lexi Thompson, Chanettee Wannasaen, Lindy Duncan

Thompson will make her sixth start of the season as she continues to keep a limited schedule this year since stepping away from full-time competition in recent years. Thompson is making her eighth start in Portland on the heels of her announcement this week that she is pregnant with her first child, a girl, due in February 2027. Wannasaen won her first LPGA Tour title in thrilling fashion in Portland in 2023, going six-under par on a five-hole stretch to cruise to a four-stroke victory. Wannasaen was tied for 20th in her last start at the AIG Women’s Open. Duncan is making her 10th appearance at The Standard Portland Classic where her best finish was a tie for 46th in 2019. Duncan has a single top 10 finish so far this season on the LPGA Tour.
