The 81st edition of the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally gets underway Thursday and, for the first time, the major championship will be held at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.. This year, nearly 1,900 entries were received by the United States Golf Association from players across the globe seeking to qualify for the longest running major championship in the women’s game. Here’s a look at some of the notable groups who will play together during the first two rounds of the U.S. Women’s Open.

Thursday, 7:07 a.m., 10th tee; Friday, 12:52 p.m. 1st tee - Maja Stark, Megha Ganne, Miyu Yamashita

Stark secured her maiden major title in the U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills in 2025 and will seek to defend her title this week at Riviera Country Club. She’ll be riding some momentum this week in California as she’s coming off her best finish of the season with a tie for 16th in her last start at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. Ganne will make her professional debut this week after a successful stint at Stanford University. Ganne has made headlines in the U.S. Women’s Open before with her tie for 14th in the U.S. Women’s Open at Olympic Club in 2021. Yamashita has been on form throughout the season with five top 10s to start the year, including a third place finish in her last start at the Kroger Queen City Championship. Yamashita can pick up a second leg of the career grand slam with a victory this week after winning the AIG Women’s Open in 2025.

Thursday, 7:29 a.m., 10th tee; Friday, 1:14 p.m., 1st tee - Nelly Korda, Hyo Joo Kim, Hannah Green

Three of the hottest players in the game on the LPGA Tour will play alongside each other in the opening rounds of the U.S. Women’s Open. Korda, already a three-time winner this season, can pick up a third different leg of the career grand slam with a victory this week. Korda is coming off a tie for eighth in her last start at the Kroger Queen City Championship where she recorded her only finish outside the top-two this year on the LPGA Tour. Kim, who has three worldwide victories of her own in 2026, has two top 10s in the U.S. Women’s Open including a runner-up finish in 2018. Green, who owns four worldwide victories in the first half of 2026, has never missed the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open in her eight prior starts.

Thursday, 1:03 p.m., 1st tee; Friday, 7:18 a.m., 10th tee - Charley Hull, Jeeno Thitikul, Patty Tavatanakit

Hull will be looking to find a spark this week at the U.S. Women’s Open where she has two prior top 10s in 12 prior appearances. Hull missed the cut in two of her last three starts on the LPGA Tour. Thitikul, already a two-time winner this year on the LPGA Tour, can become a first-time major winner with a victory at the U.S. Women’s Open where she has had some challenges in years past with two missed cuts in her three prior appearances. Tavatanakit will try to build on the momentum she found at the season’s first major championship where she was tied for second for the week.

Thursday, 1:36 p.m., 1st tee; Friday, 7:51 a.m., 10th tee - Michelle Wie West, Hinako Shibuno, Yani Tseng

Wie West is using the final year of the 10-year exemption she received from winning the U.S. Women’s Open to get into the field at Riviera Country Club. Wie West says this is a one-off appearance and she’s not planning to make a full-time return to the LPGA Tour. Shibuno, who won the AIG Women’s Open, arrives at the season’s second major championship in search of her first top 10 of the season. Tseng received a special exemption to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open, where the five-time major winner could complete the career grand slam with a victory on Sunday.
