Haeran Ryu has found quick success on the LPGA Tour. With five LPGA titles and a slew of accolades in fewer than four years, this Republic of Korea native is the next household name in professional golf.

Currently sitting third in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and second in the 2026 Race to CME Globe standings, Ryu recently won back-to-back major titles to cement herself among golf’s greats.

She began as an amateur in Korea, where she started her rise to stardom. She played her first major in 2016, teeing it up in the U.S. Women’s Open at age 15. She competed at the World Junior Girls Championship in 2016 and 2017, winning silver with Team Korea in 2016. In 2018, she competed at the Asian Games, played for the winning Asia-Pacific team at the Patsy Hankins Trophy and won the Korean Women’s Amateur.

Turning pro in 2019, she found early success on the Jump Tour and Dream Tour before joining the KLPGA. She won the Jeju Samdasoo Masters that year, her very first event on the KLPGA. She went on to secure KLPGA Rookie of the Year in 2020 and won four more times between 2020 and 2022.

After a handful of starts on the LPGA Tour as a non-member, Ryu came to the United States and finished first at LPGA Q-Series in 2022. She earned LPGA membership for the 2023 season and has solidly maintained membership since. Now fresh off back-to-back major wins, we look at Ryu’s time on the LPGA Tour thus far.

Haeran Ryu: 2023 Rookie of the Year

Ryu got off to a hot start in her first season on the LPGA Tour, making eight consecutive cuts with three top-10 finishes for an impressive introduction to her LPGA career.

Later in her rookie season, she earned her first LPGA title, going wire-to-wire at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G. Ryu finished at 19-under-par in the three-day tournament at Pinnacle Country Club, three strokes ahead of runner-up Linnea Strom.

Ryu capped off a phenomenal rookie season by earning Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year honors. Making 22 cuts in 25 starts, she recorded six top-10 finishes—including a victory—to end the year ranked 13th in the Race to the CME Globe standings.

Sophomore Season Success

The 2024 season began with four top-10 finishes in the first nine tournaments for Ryu. She recorded 13 top-10 finishes that season, including her second LPGA title at the inaugural FM Championship.

A second-round 62 propelled her into the lead on Friday at TPC Boston. After a rough Saturday, she began Sunday’s final round four strokes behind the leader. She finished regulation play with an 8-under-par 64 to force a playoff against Lydia Ko and Jin Young Ko. Ryu won the first playoff hole, taking home the trophy at 15-under par.

She made 23 cuts in 26 starts, finishing the 2024 season second in Race to the CME Globe standings. Her 13 top-10 finishes were the most of any player on Tour in 2024.

Third Year, Third Title

Ryu claimed her third title in 2025 at the first and only playing of the Black Desert Championship. She finished at an astounding 26-under par, five shots ahead of second-place finishers Esther Henseleit and Ruoning Yin.

As a bonus, Ryu carded her first LPGA ace at the Portland Classic and competed with the Republic of Korea at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.

Celebrating Stardom

The current season has already been one of many accomplishments for Ryu. She finished top-10 in her first four tournaments and has carried steady momentum through the first half of the schedule.

Ryu’s first major title came at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. A second-round 64 and third-round 68 at Hazeltine National Golf Club vaulted her into the lead heading into the final day. She finished the week at 13-under par, two shots ahead of fellow countrywoman and runner-up Ina Yoon. Ryu was 10 shots off the lead on Thursday and became the first player to overcome a first-round double-digit deficit to win a major championship since 1964.

After one week off, the LPGA headed to The Amundi Evian Championship, the LPGA’s fourth major of the year. Ryu started the week at 66-68 and headed into the weekend tied for third. She claimed the top spot on leaderboard with a stellar Saturday showing. She carded nine birdies and an eagle to turn in a 60, the lowest round ever recorded in an LPGA major.

She started Sunday in the final group, finishing regulation play at even par for the day and tied for the lead with Brooke Henderson. She went on to win in a one-hole playoff against past champion Henderson, ending the week at 19-under-par and hoisting her second major trophy just two weeks after her first.

With her win in France, Ryu became the 9th golfer to win consecutive LPGA majors in a single season since 1980.

In 12 total starts for the season, she has only finished outside the top 10 four times. She has earned nearly $4.2 million across those 12 weeks, only missing one cut. She currently sits second on the leaderboard for Rolex Player of the Year, the Glenna Collett Vare Trophy and the Rolex ANNIKA Major award. She currently leads the tour in GIR percentage (80.37%), GIR percentage from fairway (86.71%) and ball striking.

At the upcoming AIG Women's Open, she has a chance to become the third player in LPGA history to win three consecutive major championships within one year. Babe Zaharias and Inbee Park are the only two players to have achieved this in the 76 years since the LPGA Tour was founded.

Just three-and-a-half years into her career on the LPGA Tour, Ryu has made 75 cuts in 86 starts with 32 top-10 finishes, claimed five titles, which include two major titles, and is just shy of $10 million in career earnings. She is the seventh player since 1990 to win in each of their first four seasons on the LPGA Tour. The achievements are already aplenty, but this 25-year-old is only just getting started.
