EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France — There’s once again a lot at stake for Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda entering The Amundi Evian Championship. But most of those potential spoils are victory-dependent for the 27-year-old American superstar.

The most obvious accolade that Korda is poised to add to her already illustrious resume is the LPGA Hall of Fame. With 19 victories, four major titles, an Olympic gold medal and a Rolex Player of the Year title, Nelly currently has 25 points to her credit, which puts her two points away from automatically qualifying for arguably the most exclusive hall of fame in all of sports.

If she wins the fourth major of the 2026 LPGA Tour season, Korda will gain entry, becoming the second player in the last three seasons to do so alongside New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, who won gold at the Paris Olympics to get into the Hall. She would be the first American since Juli Inkster to play her way into the Hall of Fame, an athlete who was the first athlete to qualify under what was then a newly implemented 27-point system.

A win would also see Nelly complete the Career Grand Slam on her first attempt, which the LPGA deems to have happened when an athlete takes home four different major championship titles that were available to her during her Tour career. Korda has captured the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship crown, two Chevron Championship victories in 2024 and 2026 and this year’s U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Riviera Country Club since joining the LPGA in 2017.

Korda would be the first athlete since Inbee Park in 2015 to complete the Career Grand Slam, something the Republic of Korea native did at the 2015 AIG Women’s Open at Turnberry. Ironically enough, Nelly would also become the first athlete since Park to win three majors in a single season, only otherwise done by Babe Zaharias (1950), Mickey Wright (1961) and Pat Bradley (1986).

And while some of her counterparts might crumble under the weight of that kind of expectation, Korda considers herself privileged to even have the opportunity to join the Grand Slam club, a short list that only otherwise includes Louise Suggs, Wright, Bradley, Juli Inkster, Karrie Webb, Annika Sorenstam and Park.

“I think it's amazing that it's even getting talked about,” said Korda in her pre-tournament press conference at Evian Resort Golf Club. “It's an accomplishment in itself that it's even being talked about, so I'm very proud of that. Obviously, you've heard from many athletes say, and I've said it, pressure is a privilege. So, I think I just try to spin it, of yeah, some people may think it's a lot of pressure, but I think I'm really proud of myself for even putting myself into that position and it being talked about.”

Plus, she would secure her second Rolex ANNIKA Major Award in three seasons, as Korda earned the honor in 2024 after winning The Chevron Championship and tying for second at the AIG Women’s Open at the Old Course at St Andrews. Nelly would also topple the LPGA’s career money record with a solo second or better result, besting a benchmark that was first set by Annika Sorenstam at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship in 2001 and that saw the Swede ultimately reach $22,583,693 in 308 career starts.

It’s quite an impressive and lengthy list of accomplishments that would attach themselves to Korda’s name if she were to pull out a victory at a venue that Nelly admits she’s “still figuring out,” even after making eight starts in this major tournament ahead of the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship. In those eight appearances, Nelly has only ever managed to finish in the top 10 twice at this property, tying for eighth in 2022 and tying for ninth in 2023.

But considering the tear that she has been on so far this season, a performance that has seen Korda win the first two majors of the year, collect two additional victories at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, pick up three other T2 or better results and never finish worse than T17, it isn’t out of the question to think Nelly might pull it off this week at a notoriously tricky Evian Resort Golf Club.

Korda has already more than proven this season that she’s a pro’s pro when it comes to rewriting the LPGA Tour’s record books, and after tying for eighth in her most recent start at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club, Korda will once again be pursuing history in spirited earnest in Evian-les-Bains, France.
