Jenny Bae carded a bogey-free, 7-under-par 65 on Friday to move into a tie for third place following the second round of the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass.

Bae, an LPGA sophomore, finished the day at 13-under overall, trailing leader Nelly Korda by three strokes. After recording her first career hole-in-one on the LPGA Tour during Thursday’s round and carding a 6-under 66 to start Friday tied for 10th, Bae utilized an eagle and five birdies to climb the leaderboard.

"I think today was one of the most calming, just the normal round of golf that I ever had in a while," Bae said. "Everything just kind of clicked. I’m over the ball and I kind of already can visualize the line it’s going to take."

Bae attributed much of her success to her performance on par-5s, where she has recorded two eagles and a birdie through two days. She noted that the Arizona dry heat has allowed her to hit the ball farther, resulting in shorter approach shots.

The strong performance marks a bounce-back for Bae, who missed the cut at last week’s Fortinet Founders Cup after a ninth-place finish at the Blue Bay LPGA earlier this season.

With a packed leaderboard, the Epson Tour graduate has some work to do and knows she has to remain patient to become a Rolex First-Time Winner in only her second season on the LPGA Tour.

"For me, the biggest key is just to stay patient out there," Bae said. "There is some times the ball will drop and some times it's not. I feel like if I can have good composure out there, then it'll be okay."
