Miyu Yamashita saved her best for last Sunday, carding a brilliant 6-under 64 to secure solo third place at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G.

On a breezy afternoon at Maketewah Country Club that troubled many on championship Sunday, Yamashita put together a flawless, bogey-free final round. The 24-year-old finished at 9-under 271 for the tournament, finishing three strokes behind winner Lottie Woad and just one shot back of runner-up Haeran Ryu.

"It's been a while since I had a good score like this, and the wind was strong but I was able to play with a really good feeling throughout the round," Yamashita said.

The Japanese native’s Sunday surge was the lowest round of the day, capping off a steady progression through the week. After opening with consecutive rounds of 70, she climbed into contention with a third-round 67 before tearing up the course during the final round.

"So really good to see my finish position become more consistent and I want to keep doing the same moving forward," the two-time LPGA Tour winner said.

Ruoning Yin finished alone in fourth place at 8-under 272. The Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 4 from the People’s Republic of China mounted her own charge Sunday, turning in a steady 4-under 66. Yin demonstrated consistent ball-striking across all four days, following up earlier rounds of 70, 67 and 69 to finish comfortably inside the top five but just short of chasing down Woad.

This marks the major champion's third consecutive top-five finish of the season. It follows back-to-back runner-up finishes in her last two starts at the Mizuho Americas Open and The Chevron Championship.

A two-way tie for fifth place at 7-under 273 featured American Amanda Doherty and 15-time LPGA Tour winner Jin Young Ko.

Doherty, who entered the final round in the final pairing and just three strokes back of Woad, struggled to find her rhythm on Sunday. Fighting the wind all afternoon, she carded a 1-over 71, dropping out of solo second place but managing to battle her way to a top-five finish after excellent earlier rounds of 67, 66 and 69.

Ko was happy to trade Saturday's frustrations for a clean scorecard, while also enjoying the chance to play alongside a longtime rival. However, the Republic of Korea native bounced back during the final round, firing a 5-under 65 to rocket back up the standings and share fifth with Doherty.

"Happy to playing 5-under today and then bounce back from yesterday," Ko said, noting that it had been about a year and a half since she last shared a round with Nelly Korda. "It’s been a long time since playing in front of lots of fans, since maybe three years ago, I don't know. So pretty fun and good nervous and play solid and got some claps from them.”
