One week remains in Qualification Period for the U.S. Solheim Cup Team

Lauren Coughlin is the sixth athlete to secure her spot on the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team via the U.S. Solheim Cup points standings. Following her T18 finish at The Standard Portland Classic, Coughlin earned 46.5 points and is now guaranteed to play in the Netherlands in three weeks.

Coughlin will be making her second appearance for the United States Team after making her Solheim Cup debut in 2024 in her home state of Virginia. That year, she was one of four Americans to go undefeated at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club alongside Megan Khang, Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang. She is one of only 15 Americans to have gone undefeated in a Solheim Cup after playing at least four matches.

As a rookie, she teed it up in four matches for the Red, White and Blue, winning one four-ball match with partner Sarah Schmelzel, two foursomes matches with partners Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson, and tying a singles match against Maja Stark.

Since her last Solheim Cup appearance, Coughlin picked up one win at the 2026 Aramco Championship. She also represented the United States at the 2025 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown alongside Angel Yin, Lilia Vu and Yealimi Noh.

“Lauren carries a mature demeanor and is a natural leader on any team she is a part of,” said U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Angela Stanford. “We’ve seen some great golf over the past couple of weeks from Americans, and I can’t wait to be in Canada to watch some more.”

Players have their last chance to secure their spot on the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team at this week’s CPKC Women’s Open in Edmonton.

With Coughlin securing the sixth spot on the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team, there is one automatic qualifying spot remaining via the points standings, and either Allisen Corpuz or Andrea Lee will claim it. Corpuz is currently 222 points ahead. Lee can lock up the seventh spot if she wins the CPKC Women’s Open and Corpuz finishes 40th or worse.

The top two players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings following the conclusion of the CPKC Women’s Open that are not already eligible will also receive a spot on the U.S. Solheim Cup Team. As of Rolex Rankings on Aug. 17, Andrea Lee (No. 37) and Alison Lee (No. 59) are set to be those top two players, but Lindy Duncan (No. 61), Jenny Bae (No. 65) and Rose Zhang (No. 66) remain close behind.

The last three American team members will be selected by for U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Angela Stanford. The qualifiers will be announced on the morning of August 24, and the captain’s picks will be named in the afternoon.

The U.S. Team will comprise the top seven players in the U.S. Solheim Cup Team points standings, the top two players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings not already eligible, and three captain’s picks. The 2026 CPKC Women’s Open, to be held Aug. 20-23, will be the cutoff for selection of the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team.
