With her record-setting total of 14-under par, Maria Jose Marin became the seventh champion of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and earned two points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway (LEAP). She now has a total of 11 points, more than halfway toward the 20-point threshold required to be eligible for LPGA Tour Membership, per LEAP criteria.

After three rounds of competition at the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Marin outlasted World Amateur Golf Ranking No. 3, Andrea Revuelta to win by four strokes. She carded three rounds in the 60s, posting scores of 65-69-68 for a 54-hole total of 202. The first two rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur are played at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga., with the final round taking place at Augusta National Golf Club the Saturday before The Masters. This was the fourth consecutive start in the event for the University of Arkansas junior.

“I think after NCAAs there was a lot of talk of what my future would look like. It was, yes, a really important win, but I still knew that – like deep down myself, I still knew that I had to improve on some things.” said Marin. “This win, it changes up a little of my goals, but I think I'm staying down the same path of finishing my last year at Arkansas, just getting all the experience that I had – well, I still have one more year at this event, so just all the experience I can obtain from that last year and that last year at Augusta are going to help me set up future goals.”

Marin earned her previous nine LEAP points by making the cut at the 2025 Amundi Evian Championship (1), making the cut at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open (1), winning the 2025 Women’s Amateur Latin America (1), winning the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Individual National Championship (2), competing in both the 2024 (1) and 2025 (1) Arnold Palmer Cups as a member of the International Team, reaching No. 5 in the WAGR (1) in 2024 and finishing in the top 40 at the 2024 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G (1).

With her victory at Augusta National Golf Club, Marin has earned exemptions into the 2026 Chevron Championship, the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship, the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally and the 2026 AIG Women’s Open if she maintains her amateur status. She also receives an exemption into the 2026 Standard Portland Classic, along with the champions of the U.S. Women’s Amateur, The Women’s Amateur Championship and the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship (Individual).

Heading into Saturday, American Asterisk Talley held a one-shot lead at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Talley ultimately finished in a tie for fourth after a final-round 75. She has five points in the LEAP standings, earning one for finishing in the top 40 and ties at the 2026 Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass last week.
