Miyu Yamashita carded a 2-under 70 in the third round of the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open on Saturday, climbing from a tie for 11th into a tie for sixth at Dundonald Links.

The 24-year-old from Japan sits at 2-under 214 through 54 holes, 10 shots behind leader Jenny Shin, who leads at 12-under 204. Yamashita began the day at even par and steadily worked her way up the leaderboard with a bogey-free front nine and a lone slip on the back.

Starting on the front nine, Yamashita played the first eight holes in even par before making her move at the par-4 ninth, rolling in a birdie to reach the red numbers and turn in 35, 1-under for the tournament. She kept the momentum going on the back nine, opening with a birdie at the par-4 10th to move to 2-under. After three straight pars on 11 through 13, Yamashita added another birdie at the par-5 14th to climb to 3-under. Pars at 15 and 16 kept her rolling before a bogey at the par-4 17th nudged her back to 2-under. She closed with a par on the 18th to post her 70 and finish the round at 2-under 214.

The round included three birdies, one bogey and 14 pars, with matching 35s on each side.

Yamashita enters the final round riding one of the strongest seasons on the LPGA Tour. She ranks sixth in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and fourth in the Race to the CME Globe standings, with a season that includes a victory at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give and seven top-10 finishes, including a tie for fourth at the Amundi Evian Championship. Statistically, she ranks fifth in strokes gained total (1.77), second in strokes gained putting (1.04), first on Tour in top-25 finishes with 11 and first in sub-par rounds with 32.

The 2025 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year winner has already collected three LPGA Tour titles, including the 2025 AIG Women's Open and Maybank Championship, in just her second season on Tour.

With one round remaining at Dundonald Links, Yamashita will look to build on Saturday's momentum and continue climbing the leaderboard as she chases her fourth career LPGA Tour victory. A strong finish would carry extra weight heading into next week, when Yamashita returns to defend her AIG Women’s Open title.
