Ryu claims her first major championship victory

CHASKA, Minn., (June 29, 2026) – At the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Haeran Ryu won the first major championship of her career at Hazeltine National Golf Club. The four-time LPGA Tour winner finished 13-under par with rounds of 73-64-68-70 to finish two shots ahead of her closest competitor.

With her win, she became the first player to win a major championship when trailing 10 or more shots after the first round since Carol Mann at the 1964 Women’s Western Open. Notably, Ryu also had the lowest round amongst the field on both Friday and Saturday of championship week, becoming the first player to do that at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship since Mickey Wright in 1966.

Two major championships are on the horizon in the next month with The Amundi Evian Championship from July 9-12, and the AIG Women’s Open from July 30-Aug. 2.

The Rolex ANNIKA Major Award recognizes the player who, during the current LPGA Tour season, has the most outstanding record in all five major championships. Points will be awarded at all five major championships to competitors who finish among the top 10 and ties. In order to earn the award by year’s end, a player must win at least one of the five major titles.

The winner of the Rolex ANNIKA Major Award will be announced following the conclusion of the AIG Women’s Open and will be honored in November at the Rolex LPGA Awards at the CME Group Tour Championship.
