The 20th Solheim Cup is tied 8-8 entering Sunday’s singles matches after the U.S. team rallied in Saturday afternoon’s four-ball session at Bernardus Golf.

Trailing after the morning session, the Americans captured three points in the afternoon to match the European squad and set up what will be a final day for the ages.

Sweden’s Maja Stark and Linn Grant opened the afternoon with a 2-and-1 victory over Megan Khang and Lauren Coughlin. The U.S. responded in Match 14 as Yealimi Noh and Andrea Lee held off Lottie Woad and Charley Hull for a 1-up win.

Rose Zhang and Auston Kim extended American momentum in Match 15 with a 3-and-2 win over Nastasia Nadaud and Leona Maguire. However, it was the final match that secured the final point for the U.S. team to match Europe’s strong contingent in its backyard.

Jennifer Kupcho and Lindy Duncan battled Carlota Ciganda and Céline Boutier in a back-and-forth contest. Ciganda and Boutier led for most of the round before the U.S. side made a dramatic 90-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole to keep the match undecided heading into the 18th hole.

Match 13: Maja Stark/Linn Grant def. Megan Khang/Lauren Coughlin, 2 and 1

Europe’s Maja Stark and Linn Grant grabbed an early lead in Saturday’s afternoon four-ball session before Americans Megan Khang and Lauren Coughlin answered back, taking a 1-up advantage on the par-3 fourth hole. The U.S. pair held the lead until the 11th hole, where Stark and Grant tied the match. The Swedish duo took control from there, securing a hard-fought 2-and-1 victory to claim the session's opening point.

Match 14 – Yealimi Noh/Andrea Lee def. Lottie Woad/Charley Hull 1 up

Yealimi Noh and Andrea Lee defeated Europe’s Lottie Woad and Charley Hull in a hard-fought four-ball match. The Americans held the advantage for much of the contest, but the Europeans remained within striking distance throughout. Woad and Hull refused to back down, refusing to make it easy for Noh and Lee to extend their lead. Ultimately, the U.S. duo held on for a 1-up victory, securing another crucial point to add more red to the leaderboard.

Match 15 - Rose Zhang/Auston Kim def. Nastasia Nadaud/Leona Maguire 3&2

Rose Zhang and Auston Kim delivered a commanding performance in afternoon four-ball play, defeating European duo Nastasia Nadaud and Leona Maguire 3 and 2 in Match 15 to secure another point for the U.S. team. The Americans took control early by grabbing the lead on the par-4 third hole and never relinquished it. Although Europe cut the deficit to 1 down on the ninth, Zhang and Kim pulled away on the back nine to seal the victory on the 16th hole.

Match 16 – Jennifer Kupcho/Lindy Duncan vs. Carlota Ciganda/Celine Boutier

In the most thrilling duel of the afternoon four-ball session, the Americans and Europeans traded shot for shot.

Carlota Ciganda and Celine Boutier held the lead over the U.S. pair of Jennifer Kupcho and Lindy Duncan for most of the match. But with a dramatic 90-foot birdie putt on No. 17, Kupcho forced Ciganda and Boutier to hole their own birdie attempts to remain 1 up. When both Europeans missed, the match went to No. 18 tied.

It all came down to the final hole of the day's matches, where Kupcho drained another long-distance putt to seal the hole and secure the match victory for the U.S.
