Entering your first career LPGA Tour event as a rookie usually involves a mix of nerves and expectations. For Spain's Carla Tejedo Mulet, the strategy was simple: have fun, stay present, and let the offseason preparation speak for itself.

That approach paid off in a major way this week at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club.

The Epson Tour graduate carded four consecutive subpar rounds to finish the Fortinet Founders Cup at 10-under par, securing a tie for fifth place. For a player who finished 14th in last season's Epson Tour Race for the Card standings, the result is a massive confidence booster and a testament to her winter grind.

"It's been a really emotional and fun week," Tejedo Mulet said following her final round. "I haven't done anything different. I've just been myself, and I think all the work I did in the offseason is paying off. Hopefully, it keeps working."

The week was made even more meaningful by the presence of her parents, who flew from Spain to witness her LPGA Tour rookie debut. "Having my parents here is a huge thing for me," she added.

Tejedo Mulet found her rhythm early and credited her success to a sharp short game and a disciplined approach to the greens—the course's primary defense.

"I've been doing a lot of work on my putting and short game, which is key here," said the 24-year-old. "You can get some very tricky breaks. Also, the rough is nearly a half-stroke penalty—I don't think everyone was ready for that."

By securing a top-10 finish, Tejedo Mulet avoids the Monday qualifier in Phoenix, allowing her to carry this momentum directly into next week's Ford Championship presented Wild Horse Pass.

Beyond the leaderboard, Tejedo Mulet is leaving the Fortinet Founders Cup with a newfound sense of belonging. For players transitioning from the Epson Tour, especially those who finished between 11th and 15th on the Race for the Card points list and start the season with conditional status and the uncertainty of getting into the next event.

"Having conditional status, I wasn't sure what to expect," Tejedo Mulet admitted. "Everybody talks about how tough it is... but you have to embrace it. I'm so privileged to have this opportunity. Even if it's a small window, I'll take any bit of it."

With her status likely to improve following this performance, the Spaniard's "unreal" start has turned a season of questions into a season of high-level potential. If this debut was any indication, the newest Spaniard on tour is more than ready for the big stage.
