The 2026 major championship season gets underway this week on the LPGA Tour, with The Chevron Championship being contested in Houston, Texas, at Memorial Park Golf Course. The 132-athlete field features eight of the game’s top amateurs, including Kiara Romero, who is currently leading the way with 14 points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway, and Asterisk Talley, two-time winner of the Junior Invitational.

Each amateur in the field is eligible to earn points through the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway (LEAP). At major championships, amateurs are able to earn one point for making the cut and two points for finishing within the top 25 and ties. Amateurs who accumulate a minimum of 20 points within the set LEAP criteria will earn exempt Priority List status on the LPGA Tour, provided they also meet all LPGA Tour Membership requirements.

Kiara Romero – 14 LEAP Points / World Amateur Golf Ranking^® (WAGR^®) No. 1

Romero enters this week in Houston as the current leader in the LEAP standings with a total of 14 points. The University of Oregon junior is making her third start in a major championship and her first at The Chevron Championship. Romero has made three starts in LPGA Tour events in the past year, earning at least one LEAP point in every appearance, doing so at the U.S. Women’s Open, The Standard Portland Classic and the CPKC Women’s Open. Romero is the only amateur in the field to earn three points through reaching No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking^®, and four points for winning the Mark H. McCormack Medal in 2025.

Paula Martin Sampedro – 9 LEAP Points / WAGR^® No. 2

Martin Sampedro is making her third start in a major championship this week following her appearances at the U.S. Women’s Open and AIG Women’s Open in 2025. The Spaniard broke through last summer, claiming distinguished victories at both The European Ladies Amateur and The Women’s Amateur Championship, both of which secured her two points in the LEAP standings. Less than a week ago, Martin Sampedro took medalist honors at the 2026 ACC Women’s Golf Championship, leading Stanford University to the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. She is one of the three Stanford University athletes in the field this week, alongside Megha Ganne and Andrea Revuelta.

Asterisk Talley – 6 LEAP Points / WAGR^® No. 7

Making her eighth LPGA Tour start since 2024, Talley is no stranger to an LPGA Tour event or a major championship. The 17-year-old has made three previous starts in major championships, one of which was The Chevron Championship in 2025. This year alone, Talley has earned a total of two LEAP points with finishes inside the top 25 and ties at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro and the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass. The Stanford University commit made headlines earlier this month after leading following the second round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and ultimately finishing T4.

Ganne arrives in Texas looking to add The Chevron Championship to her resume of major championship experiences, which includes three U.S. Women’s Opens (2019, 2021, 2024). The Stanford University senior secured the biggest win of her amateur career last summer, winning the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. That victory ultimately saw Ganne secure an exemption in this week’s field, where she has a chance to move up ;in the LEAP standings with a made cut or better. Ganne is also currently ranked No. 1 in the LPGA Collegiate Advancement Pathway, through which she could earn Epson Tour Membership.

Farah O’Keefe – 4 LEAP Points / WAGR^® No. 4

O’Keefe is teeing it up in her fourth LPGA Tour tournament in Houston, having previously competed in the 2021 Volunteers of America Classic and both the 2023 and 2025 U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally. She is currently fourth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking^®, a position that earned her one of her four total points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway. The three other LEAP points she has collected have come from her T36 showing at the U.S. Women’s Open last year at Erin Hills and from her two starts in the Arnold Palmer Cup as a member of the United States Team. During her time as a University of Texas Longhorn, O’Keefe has been recognized as an All-American and earned both Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors in 2024.

Andrea Revuelta – 3 LEAP Points / WAGR^® No. 3

The Chevron Championship marks Revuelta’s first LPGA Tour start, as the Spaniard will be competing as a sponsor invitation in Houston. The 20-year-old is a member of the Stanford University women’s golf team, and in her time with the Cardinal, Revuelta has been recognized as a WGCA and Golfweek All-American, won the 2025 ACC Championship and made the WGCA All-Freshman Team. She has tallied two points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway, earning two points for reaching No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking^® and picking up one point when she represented the International Team at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup.

Yang became the first athlete from the Republic of Korea to win the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship in February 2026, a wire-to-wire& victory that saw her secure both an exemption into The Chevron Championship and her first and only point in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway. This year’s event at Memorial Park marks the 18-year-old's very first start on the LPGA Tour, and Yang, who is currently 33rd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, will be working to add to that tally in Houston.
