Resumed: play resumed at 1:46 p.m. It was an hour and eight minute delay.
The final-round of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia was suspended at 12:38 p.m. local time due to storms in the area. Thunder and lightning started to pop up and horns blew to bring players into the clubhouse. Players will get their first update at 1:30 p.m. local (1:30 a.m. eastern)
Cristie Kerr, who is hunting a 20th LPGA Tour win, has the lead at 15-under by two shots over Shanshan Feng, In Gee Chun and Jacqui Concolino.
Just before horns blew, there was a major turning point on hole nine. Kerr and Feng were tied for the lead at 14-under. Kerr hit a gorgeous 7-iron to ten feet. Just seconds later, Feng missed her approach way left and her ball plugged in the hazard near the water. Under the circumstances, Feng hit a very nice chip to 12-feet. Kerr then dropped her birdie in the center of the cup to get to 15-under. Feng missed her par putt left and Kerr took a two-shot lead. It was Feng’s first bogey of the tournament (first 62 holes without a bogey).
Kerr has made 18 birdies over her last 46 holes.
She is eight holes away from a second victory of 2017. She would become the third player in the history of the LPGA to cross $19 million in career earnings. Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb are the other two.
