Career

  • 1983 was her most successful financial season when she won over $34,000. In that same year, she lost on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff against Lauri Merten at the Rail Charity Classic.  That second-place finish represents her career-best.
  • In 1986, she recorded four top-30 finishes including a tie for 11th at the MasterCard International Pro-Am.
  • Due to pregnancy, she participated in only 11 tournaments in 1987.
  • Tied for 38th at the 1994 du Maurier Ltd. Classic, one of the Tour’s four major championships.
  • Best finish in 1995 was a tie for 33rd at the Youngstown-Warren LPGA Classic.

    Amateur

    Winner of the 1979 Midwest Region Championship as a junior at Ohio State, Sams went on to capture the 1980 Ontario Amateur. She was named the Canadian Amateur-of-the-Year that same season. Sams played collegiate golf at Ohio State University for four years.
