    Leadbetter won the 1976 Arizona State High School Championship. She also captured both the 1977 and 1978 USGA Public Links Championships. Leadbetter was runner-up at the 1977 Mexican Amateur Championship. Leadbetter played for Arizona State University where she captured one tournament title in 1977. She was also the 1978 Arizona State Stroke Play champion.
