    Amateur
    Growing up in New Mexico, Monaghan won the Sun Country Junior PGA Championship in 1974, 1977 and 1978. She also won the State High School Championship in 1978. Monaghan was the 1980 New Mexico State Amateur champion, the 1981 Ladies Broadmoor Invitational champion and took third place in the 1980 AIAW National Championship. She was named an AIAW All-American in 1981 and an NCAA All-American in 1982.
