Farwig prepared for her successful collegiate career by winning the 1980 Wisconsin State Amateur, in addition to the 1977, 1979 and 1980 Wisconsin Public Links Championships. As a four-year member of the Houston Baptist University golf squad, Farwig was named a Southwest Regional All-American in 1981.
