Final Group
Mi Jung Hur (-17), Marina Alex (-15), Maria Torres (-13)
10:56 a.m. ET
Sunday, Mi Jung Hur looks to go wire-to-wire and capture her second win of the season at the Indy Women in Tech Championship. Saturday, Hur made a critical birdie at the 18th hole to give herself a two-stroke cushion heading into Sunday’s final round.
“I knew I was ahead by one and I think a two-shot lead would be a little bit easier for me for tomorrow. Sunday there is going to be pressure the whole round,” Hur told LPGA.com. “That was my best birdie for all three rounds.”
Hur leads Marina Alex, who carded a bogey-free, 64 on moving day to play her way into the final group on Sunday. Alex, who is riding the momentum she found in competing in her first Solheim Cup in Scotland, is hoping to capture her second career win.
“I think it will be another good learning experience for me and just take some of the good stuff that I've had in my career and put it to use tomorrow,” Alex told LPGA.com.
Maria Torres will have some ground to make up on Sunday in order to capture her first win on the LPGA Tour. She begins the final round four shots back of Hur, but after making six birdies in her final seven holes on Saturday, Torres has showed her ability to go low. Her biggest challenge will be trying to stay in the present, which is something she’s worked hard to maintain this week in Indy.
“I just have been not having any expectations or anything, I've just been trying to be in the moment and trying to enjoy,” Torres told LPGA.com. “We have these last two tournaments of the regular season and I'm trying to get the best out of it.”
In the Hunt
Nanna Koerstz Madsen (-12)
10:45 a.m. ET
Nanna Koerstz Madsen rebounded from a 75 on Friday with a 64 on Saturday to climb within 5-strokes of the lead heading into Sunday. The second-year member, who has battled to control her emotions on the golf course, will have quite a bit of ground to make up on Sunday to have a chance at winning for the first time on Tour.
“I tried being up there before and it hasn't really gone very well for me, so I'm just going to try more to enjoy it,” Koerstz Madsen said about being atop the leaderboard. “It's okay to be nervous and stuff. I'm just going to try and say that's okay and try and still do my thing.”
Bronte Law (-11)
10:45 a.m. ET
Saturday, Bronte Law took advantage of the calm conditions to card a 7-under par 65 and move within striking distance of the lead.
“There will be people coming from behind and I hope to get some birdies early on and put myself in a position where I can have a shot,” Law told LPGA.com.
Like Alex, Law has found a second gear following the Solheim Cup as she now finds herself in the hunt for her second win of the season.
