To honor her mother, Morgan Pressel, who became the youngest player in LPGA history to win a major championship when she won last year's Kraft Nabisco Championship at age 18, teed up a tournament of her own.
The inaugural Morgan and Friends Fight Cancer Tournament was held Monday at St. Andrew's Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., with all net proceeds benefiting the Lynn Cancer Institute's Breast Cancer Center at the Boca Raton Community Hospital 10 minutes from Pressel's home.
It was at the hospital where the late Kathy Krickstein Pressel lost her fight against breast cancer after a multiyear battle.
Pressel was 15 when her mother died.
"I wanted to form an event that not only honored my mom, but also helped to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research and the overall fight against this terrible illness," Pressel, 19, said. "Our family and friends lost an amazing woman in my mother, and I am determined to do whatever I can to prevent the same thing from happening to others." Read More>>
