How: Three days of practice and special events precedes the three-day matchplay competition based on a points system with 28 total points available. The competition includes eight foursome matches, eight four-ball matches and 12 singles played on the final day. How to watch match play.>>
Brief history: Founded in 1990 by Karsten Manufacturing Corporation (KMC) - makers of PING golf equipment - The Solheim Cup features 12 of the top European born players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and 12 top American born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).
Going into the 2007 event, the U.S. Team leads the competition, 6-3, and has never lost on home soil. The European Team has won three of the four events held overseas and will be looking to regain the Cup in 2007. The 2007 Solheim Cup will be played Sept. 14-16 at Halmstad Golf Club in Halmstad, Sweden. |
