A look at some of the top player picks for the ShopRite LPGA Classic, the 12th event of the 2013 LPGA season which begins on Friday:
- Anna Nordqvist: The tall Swede is on a roll, with three consecutive top-10 finishes this year (including a season-low 61 in Mobile two weeks ago). If that’s not enough, Nordqvist has never shot above par in three starts in New Jersey (six rounds in the 60s for a 68.5 stroke average) and has recorded finishes of T12, T5 and T5. She is looking to end a victory drought that stretches back to 2009 and a win would make for a nice birthday present (she turns 26 on June 10).
- Karrie Webb: Webb, 38, has an excellent track record on the Bay Course, with four top-10s in eight starts and has finished no worse than a T23. The Australian World Golf Hall of Famer is coming off a T4 at the Mobile Bay Classic two weeks where she shot a second-round 63. Webb is riding a streak of 53 consecutive cuts made, dating back to the September 2010 NW Arkansas Championship.
- Katherine Hull-Kirk: Another Aussie who has found success in New Jersey. Hull-Kirk was the runner-up to Stacy Lewis last year and also finished T4 in 2010. In her last nine rounds at the tournament, Hull-Kirk has only one round over par and shot a career-low 63 in 2010.
- Juli Inkster: Inkster won the first tournament at the Bay Course in 1986 and has played in the event 23 times. Inkster, who turns 53 on June 24, started 69-69 at Kingsmill two weeks ago and also played in the Bahamas last week.
