CME Group Titleholders Champion Na Yeon Choi Donates $30,000 to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, Nov. 20, 2012 - Rolex Rankings No. 2 Na Yeon Choi (@NYChoi87) announced today on Golf Channel's Morning Drive that she has donated $30,000 to the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program to provide golf equipment to young girls beginning to take interest in the game.

"I want to give the girls my message: Have a dream and achieve it," Choi said. "My dream came from Se Ri Pak in 1998 when she won the U.S. Open. This year, I achieved my dream by winning the U.S. Open. With the golf clubs, these girls can practice hard and dream to be LPGA players."

Choi's donation will be awarded to the more than 250 LPGA-USGA Girls Golf programs in the United States via grants on a need basis. The grant program provides appropriately-sized equipment based on age, size and ability for community use at practice sessions and clinics.

It marks the second donation of $30,000 made by Choi to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf in the last two years.

"Players on the LPGA have truly embraced the concept of leaving the game better than they found it," said Kiernan Schindler, Director of the LPGA Foundation. "This is a week to give thanks and we could not be more appreciative of Na Yeon's generosity. She is showing the world how close the connection is between the players on the LPGA Tour and the members of the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program."

Choi is a seven-time LPGA Tour winner with more than $7.6 million in career earnings. This season, she won her first major championship at the U.S. Women's Open at Blackwolf Run, the same location where Korean pioneer Se Ri Pak won her first U.S. Open title in 1998. Choi's victory at last week's CME Group Titleholders elevated her to second on the LPGA Official Money List with more than $1.9 million in earnings.
