Next week, CME Group will again host the LPGA season-ending event, Titleholders, in Naples, Florida with a new champion to be crowned Sunday, Nov. 24.
CME Group is in its third year sponsoring the event, and this year has added new elements to honor United States military servicemen and women. Throughout this year’s tournament, veterans and active duty military will receive free admission to Titleholders, which will be held Nov.21-24 at Tiburon Golf Club.
In addition, the winner of this year’s tournament will cap off the champion’s ceremony by “firing the winning shot” from a revolutionary war-era cannon while accompanied by a full military color guard. It’s a ceremony tournament organizers plan to repeat each year to close out the event.
The recognition of the U.S. military at Titleholders continues a string of involvement CME Group has had with supporting military issues and causes. The company also supports Vets on Wall Street, Operation Support Our Troops, the New York City Marine Corps Council and, since 2011, has supported Homes for Heroes. CME Group Executive Chairman Terry Duffy chaired the Homes for Heroes dinner in 2013.
To earn a spot in Titleholders, LPGA members must finish in the top three at an official LPGA tournament throughout the season. More information about the tournament can be found here.
You can watch Titleholders on the Golf Channel beginning November 21.
