German Partner Golf Post will provide streaming of final-round coverage of all LPGA Tour events
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, June 21, 2013 – The LPGA today announced the launch of www.USLPGA.de, the official German website of the LPGA. The site will feature live scoring for all LPGA tournaments, player information, news and statistics. The LPGA and Golf Post, a leading German online golf magazine, have partnered together to localize coverage and increase the popularity of the game in Germany.
The website debuted live coverage of the Wegmans LPGA Championship and will continue to stream final-round telecasts as well as video highlights from early rounds. The nation’s interest in women’s golf has been driven by the recent success of German golfers Sandra Gal and Caroline Masson, as well as Germany being named the host nation of the 2015 Solheim Cup. It will mark the first time the country will stage the biennial team event.
“Golf has grown strongly in Germany over the past years, making it possible for Sandra and me to pursue our professional careers in this sport,” said Masson. “I am glad that the many fans of women’s golf in Germany now have even better access to what’s happening on the LPGA.”
Gal became a Rolex First-Time Winner at 2011 Kia Classic and made her Solheim Cup debut for the European Team in 2011. Masson earned her first professional victory last year at the South African Women’s Open on the Ladies European Tour and finished 2nd on the LET’s Order of Merit in 2012. The 2013 LPGA Tour rookie is currently ranked fourth in European Solheim Cup points and is on pace to make her first Solheim Cup appearance this August at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo.
"Golf Post is proud to be the official partner of the LPGA Tour in Germany,” said Matthias Graef, CEO of Golf Post. “Thanks to the LPGA Tour we can now offer top-golf live and free for all of the golf-interested people in Germany. The two German golfers on the LPGA tour together with all the talented young players in Germany create an unmatched attention for female golf in Germany. We want to build on this and enable everybody in Germany to participate in this development.”
For the German coverage, the LPGA partnered with Golf Post and will provide content to the Cologne-based company through the 2015 Solheim Cup. The biennial event will be played at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot outside Heidelberg. The club was also host to the Deutsche Bank SAP Open on the men’s European Tour.
"Forty percent of golfers in Germany are represented by female players and we believe that there is a big potential for bringing the LPGA Tour to the German golf market,” Graef added. “With the free-of-charge live stream of the LPGA Tour, our goal is to increase the popularity of top female golf in Germany and to bring consumers closer to the game of golf."
The content on USLPGA.de will be similar to that of LPGA.com and will include tournament coverage, schedule, player features and information, statistics, photos, video, television times, news and player blogs. The website is free to all users and highlighted by live scoring which is only available on LPGA official sites. A social media dashboard will also enable viewers to interact and chat about the LPGA tour.
Users will be able to link directly to and from all of the LPGA's global sites - LPGA.com (www.LPGA.com), LPGA.com/Espanol, USLPGA.kr (www.USLPGA.kr), USLPGA.cn (www.USLPGA.cn) and USLPGA.jp (www.USLPGA.jp).
