France’s own Caroline Afonso set the target on day one of the two-day Evian Championship qualifier at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France.
The 29-year-old from Anglet near Biarritz fired a four-under-par 67 after she birdied the second, fourth, ninth 11th and 14th holes. Her sole bogey came on the par-3 16th.
Fellow Frenchwoman Ariane Provot and Vikki Laing of Scotland shared second place on three-under 68. Provot had five birdies and two bogeys, while Laing picked up birdies on the third, fourth, seventh and 13th holes, with her only dropped shot a bogey on the par-four 18th.
