LPGA T&CP Northeast Section Members to Compete at Turning Stone Resort
VERONA, N.Y., Oct. 12, 2009 - LPGA T&CP Northeast Section members will meet in Verona, N.Y., this week for the 2009 Turning Stone Resort LPGA Northeast Section Championship. The 32-player field will compete for an exemption into the 2010 LPGA Championship and a share of the championship purse. The 36-hole tournament will be hosted by Kaluhyat Golf Club today and tomorrow. A pro-am was held on Sunday, preceding the event.
The field is expected to include defending champion Sue Ginter and the last two winners of the LPGA T&CP National Championship: current title-holder Jean Bartholomew and 2008 victor Laura Shanahan-Rowe, as well as Angela Aulenti and Kammy Maxfeldt, who paired up to capture the 2008 LPGA T&CP National Team Championship.
Kaluhyat Golf Club, one of three championship courses at Turning Stone, was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. It is the annual home of the qualifying tournament for the PGA TOUR's Turning Stone Resort Championship and also hosted the 2006 PGA Professional National Championship as well as several regional PGA competitions.
