CME Group Tour Championship Eligibility and Reset Points

CME Group Tour Championship Eligibility

The CME Group Tour Championship field will be determined as follows:

  • Top 72 LPGA Members and those tied for 72nd on the Race to the CME Globe Points Standings, ranked in the order of their position on the standings at the conclusion of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by Banamex
  • LPGA Members, not otherwise qualified, who win at least one Official LPGA Tournament during the season
  • Non-members who win at least one Official LPGA Tournament during the season

CME Group Tour Championship Reset

Following the Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by Banamex, LPGA Members who meet the entry criteria for the CME Group Tour Championship will be seeded based on their position on the Race to the CME Globe Points Standings. Points for each Member will then be reset for the CME Group Tour Championship based on the points reset table listed on the next page.  The reset will ensure that the race will be won at the season-ending tournament.

  • All LPGA Members eligible for the CME Group Tour Championship field will receive reset points
  • In the event an LPGA Member is eligible for the Tour Championship, but she does not compete, her reset points will not be reallocated to the next player on the list
  • The leader on the Race to the CME Globe Points Standings through the Lorena Ochoa Invitational will have her points reset to 5,000
  • Reset points will give the year’s top performers an advantage heading into the Tour Championship, but they will not guarantee any player the Race to the CME Globe victory
  • After the reset, the players in the top-3 positions on the Race to the CME Globe Points Standings will be able to win the Race to the CME Globe with a win at the Tour Championship; and the players in the top-9 positions will have a mathematical chance to win the race (based on various scenarios)

LPGA Members finishing in the top 40 and ties at the Tour Championship will receive Race to the CME Globe points (CME Group Tour Championship Points Distribution table is shown on the next page) and the winner of the CME Group Tour Championship will receive 3,500 points.

At the conclusion of the CME Group Tour Championship, the points each player earns at the Tour Championship will be added to her reset points. The player with the highest point total will be named the winner of the Race to the CME Globe

In the event of a tie in the Race to the CME Globe, the winner will be decided by a sudden-death playoff immediately following the completion of the competition.

Note:  Ties – Players tied in the Race to the CME Globe Points Standings at the conclusion of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational will each be awarded reset points for the tied position.  Points will not be averaged and distributed to the tied positions.

Note: CME Group Tour Championship Ties – Players tying for a finish position will each be awarded points for the tied position. Points will not be averaged and distributed to the tied positions.
