Tournament officials aim to complete 36 holes by Sunday.

Mother Nature became the story at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic afternoon as nearly a foot of rain fell on the Ocean Club Golf Course at Atlantis, Paradise Island between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic has been shortened to a 54-hole event following overnight storms that dropped nearly a foot of rain on the Ocean Club Golf Course.

The Legends Tour, the Official Senior Tour of the LPGA, along with the Judson Collegiate Invitational Foundation, will join together again this summer for the second annual Judson Collegiate and Legends Pro-Am Challenge presented by Jones Lang LaSalle.

A world-class field will tee it up in Paradise this week at the inaugural Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. The tournament, one of three new tournaments on the 2013 LPGA schedule, is a four-day, 72-hole stroke-play event with a $1.3 million purse and a $195,000 first-place check.

The LPGA Tour makes its first-ever appearance in the tropical islands of the Bahamas this week with the inaugural Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. The Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island will feature a star-studded field of 144 players competing over four days for a chance at a $195,000 first-place check and to be the first to etch their name on the tournament’s trophy.

The world’s top-ranked amateur Lydia Ko and the University of Arkansas freshman Gaby Lopez were added to the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship field of competitors.
