The Race to the CME Globe wrapped up last week with Lydia Ko winning a second consecutive season-long points race. A By the Numbers to conclude the season:
- 3, 1: The rankings that Lydia Ko held in 2014 and 2015, respectively, before winning the title in Naples, Fla.
- Top 3: In the first two years, Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis and Inbee Park have been ranked 1, 2 and 3 entering the final event. In 2014, Lewis held the top spot followed by Park and Ko. This year, it was Ko, Park and Lewis.
- $500,000: CME Group Tour Championship winner Cristie Kerr’s first-place earnings from last week, her second-largest career payday ($560,000 at the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open).
- $2,542,385: The amount of money that Lydia Ko has earned at the CME Group Tour Championship and via the CME Globe competition the last two years in Naples, Fla. That includes $1.5 million last year (won the tournament and the inaugural Race to the CME Globe), which was more earnings in one week than all but the top four on the final LPGA money list. This year, her one-week take was $1,042,385 (finished T7 at the tournament and the second Race to the CME Globe), more than all but the top nine from the season’s money list.
- 2014: There were 283 eagles made on the weekend, raising $283,000. While no eagles were made on the weekend in Naples, the CME Group generously rounded up to $300,000.
- 2015: After three players carded eagles on the final Sunday of the 2015 season to push the season-long total to $286,000, CME Group again upped the total to $300,000.
