Bangkok, 6th October 2015 - BBTV Channel 7 and Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd announced the premiere ladies professional golf tournament, “Honda LPGA THAILAND 2016”, will be staged at Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course from 25th – 28th February 2016. To mark the 10th anniversary of the tournament next year, the prize purse is increased to 1.6 million USD, or about 59 million THB, and a new trophy has been designed to commemorate this celebration with a special hole-in-one prize on the Par-3, 16th hole of Honda Accord.
Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Chief Operating Officer of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “Every previous event of Honda LPGA THAILAND ladies’ professional golf tournament has been very successful with robust participation of world-class women golfers and tremendous interest from Thai and foreign golf fans. Honda is therefore bringing our title sponsorship for this tournament to its 10th consecutive year. The upcoming event will mark 10 years that Honda LPGA is held in Thailand. The tournament has made history in Thailand’s golf scene and presented Thai charisma to the world, putting Thailand in the world’s spotlight during its period every year. For Honda LPGA THAILAND 2016, Honda has also prepared a special prize for a hole-in-one on the Par-3, 16th hole, which is Honda Accord.”

The Honda LPGA THAILAND has been successful since its inaugural edition in 2006. At the Honda LPGA THAILAND 2016 edition, there will be 70 players. The 57 highest ranked golfers on the 2016 LPGA Priority List and 3 champions from the preceding 2016 LPGA tournaments which including Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers 2016 , Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic 2016 and ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open 2016. (In the event that the winner is already among the top-57 players, the next in line will automatically get into the tournament). There will also 10 exemptions. The four-day competition will be in a 72-hole stroke play format with no cut.
