Park becomes the second player in history to win the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship three consecutive years
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 10, 2015 – Inbee Park has become synonymous with major championship excellence and her latest victory further cemented her place in major championship history. Park won her third consecutive KPMG Women’s PGA Championship while matching the lowest scoring record at a major championship at 19-under-par. Park’s stellar performance earned her Kia’s Most Compelling Performance Award for the month of June. Kia is the Official Automotive Partner of the LPGA.
Park fired a bogey-free, 5-under 68 in Sunday’s final round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Over her final 56 holes, Park did not make a single bogey and converted a 5-foot birdie putt on her 72nd hole to defeat LPGA rookie and fellow South Korean Sei Young Kim by five shots. Park’s victory is made even more impressive by the fact that she has won her three consecutive championships on three different golf courses - Locust Hill Country Club Monroe Golf Club and now Westchester Country Club.
Park joins Annika Sorenstam as the only player in LPGA history to win this championship three consecutive times.
