Brittany Lang is showing Juli Inkster she was well worth the pick.
Lang leads by two-strokes midway through round one of the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, just three days after being selected with a captain’s pick by Juli Inkster for this year’s U.S. Solheim Cup team.
"It was just one of those days, it was so enjoyable," Lang said after her round. "I wasn't thinking about a whole lot. Everything, you know, I was just super committed to seeing my shots, it was so much fun."
Thursday, Lang carded a 7-under par, 65, her low round in this event including nine birdies and two bogeys. She has two top-10 finishes on the Senator Course at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, finishing T-4 in 2011 and T-2 in 2009.
Lang led earlier this season, shooting 66 to take the first round lead at the Honda LPGA Thailand where she finished T-13 for the week.
Ryann O’Toole, Tiffany Joh and Sydnee Michaels are currently tied for second at 5-under par, two strokes behind Lang. They each carded bogey free 67’s on Thursday.
Defending champion Mi Jung Hur opened with a 2-over par, 74.
