Alabama’s Emma Talley Wins 2015 NCAA Individual Championship, Earns Exemption to the LPGA’s 2015 Marathon Classic Presented by Owens Corning and O-I
BRADENTON, Fla., May 26, 2015 – Emma Talley became the first NCAA individual champion in Alabama women’s golf history on Monday by turning in a four-day total of 3-under-par 285 at the 2015 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
“This is definitely a dream come true,” said Talley. “Today was bogey free and I just played really consistent and had a few putts go in. Overall, I’m really happy with my performance.”
As a result of her NCAA individual championship, Talley will receive an invitation to compete in the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning and O-I, taking place July 13-19 in Toledo, Ohio. A representative from the team national champions at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships also will receive an exemption to compete in the Marathon Classic Presented by Owens Corning and O-I. The championship match of the team match play competition will take place Wednesday, airing live on Golf Channel from 3-7 p.m. ET.
The fifth player in history to win both the U.S. Women’s Amateur and the NCAA individual championship, Talley carded a final-round 3-under-par 69 on Monday, good enough for a one-stroke victory over Arkansas’ Gaby Lopez and Duke’s Leona Maguire.
