Former Big Breaker Stefanie Kenoyer and Nadia Luttner receive sponsor exemptions
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 17, 2015 - The Epson Tour, Road to the LPGA, heads to Sarasota next week for the Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay. The 54-hole tournament begins on Friday, April 24 and concludes on Sunday, April 26.
Stefanie Kenoyer and Nadia Luttner have earned sponsor exemptions to join the 144-player field comprised of the top up-and-coming female professional golfers.
The field will be competing for a total tournament purse that jumps from $100,000 to $110,000. The winner will earn $16,500 and will likely move into the top 10 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list. The top 10 on the year end money list will earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2016 season.
Kenoyer, who appeared on Big Break NFL Puerto Rico and Big Break Mexico, has played on the Epson Tour since 2010. She has three career top 10 finishes. Kenoyer was the 2008-09 Southern Conference Player of the Year while playing collegiately at Furman.
Luttner, who currently plays college golf at Coastal Carolina, will play in her first Epson Tour event. Following an internship this summer at the Executive Women’s Golf Association, she will pursue her masters degree at Lynn University and finish her collegiate golf career. She finished second at the PIAA State Championship as a senior at Fox Chapel High School in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Nine of the top ten on the Volvik Race for the Card money list are in the preliminary field for the event including Pace, Florida native Haley Italia, who finished runner-up at the Gateway Classic, and No. 3 Katie Kempter, who won the Volvik Championship. Bradenton professionals Ginger Howard and Jennifer Neville are both in the field.
Tickets for the Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay are $10 for all three days of the tournament. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. to the public Friday through Sunday.
The week begins on Monday, April 20 with a free junior clinic presented by CAPSTAN Financial Counsulting Group at Suncoast Golf Center from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Epson Tour professionals and representatives from the First Tee of Sarasota/Manatee will be on hand to host the clinic. Official player practice rounds begin on Tuesday, April 21.
