Question: Azahara Munoz recently took a drop during a round. After crossing a red line (water hazard), she elected to take relief of two club lengths no closer to the hole from where her ball last crossed the hazard line. When she took relief she was still standing within the hazard. Isn't that a penalty?
Answer: This is a commonly asked but there is no penalty in that situation. As long as the ball is outside the hazard, she can stand in the hazard to play her stroke. This gets confused with other Rules, such as, taking relief from a cart path or ground under repair when you must take full relief including your stance.
