Wondering how the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic Presented by CTBC got its name?
Swinging Skirts Golf Team is a sponsor for this week’s event. They are a non-profit organization based in Taiwan, composed of both men and women amateur golfers who are focused on growing women’s golf around the world. The members of Swinging Skirts like to have fun! They incorporate wearing colorful skirts and kilts when playing to pay homage to one of golf’s oldest traditions dating back hundreds of years to the early days of the game at St. Andrews in Scotland.
This week’s event is about celebrating the global scope of the game, bringing some of Taiwan’s young, up and coming talent to compete on golf’s biggest stage. In addition to golf, Swinging Skirts is also excited to share elements of their culture by featuring huge, colorful sculptures by artist Hung Yi of Taiwan on display around Lake Merced Golf Club and downtown San Francisco.
This year marks the third edition of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic at Lake Merced Golf Club near San Francisco, California.
