OTTAWA – After five months away, the Hendersons are finally home.
Brooke and Brittany Henderson took advantage of the LPGA Tour’s off week to return to Ottawa and nearby hometown of Smiths Falls for the first time since Christmas Day. The Henderson family made the 20 hour long drive from the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic in Alabama home to Canada in order for Brooke to cross two states off her bucket list, Tennessee and Kentucky, which she had yet to see.
After arriving home on Monday to spend time with family and celebrate an aunt’s birthday, the two were back on the course Tuesday morning at Eagle Creek Golf Club where they joined Canadian National Teacher of the Year Kevin Haime at his annual golf outing to raise money for junior golf. The duo answered questions from the young golfers and hit a variety of shots for the crowd.
Wednesday, the sisters headed to Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, host of the 2017 Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, where the two are new members. Around 100 of the club’s members and juniors turned out to watch a clinic with the girls who again took questions and hit some trick shots for the crowd. In the afternoon, the pair teed it up at the club with a different member and junior playing with the Hendersons for six hole stretches over the course of 18 holes.
During the remainder of their week off the Hendersons planned to make a trip to their home course of Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club with a stop at their cottage on Rideau Lakes. The two will return to action at next week’s Kingsmill Championship in Virginia.
