World's Best Return To Action in China
World No.2 Ariya Jutanugarn headlines the field at this week’s Reignwood LPGA Classic. The five-time winner in 2016 is looking to become the first player since Inbee Park in 2013 to win six events in a single season. World No.4 and two-time winner in 2016 Brooke Henderson is also in the field in China, along with world No.5 Sei Young Kim and No.9 Amy Yang.
Fond Memories
This year marks the third playing of the Reignwood LPGA Classic and first since 2014 after the event took a year hiatus from the schedule. China’s own Shanshan Feng captured the inaugural playing of the event in 2013, winning with an incredible eagle at the 72nd hole to defeat Stacy Lewis by one-stroke. Feng won at a total of 26-under par, her lowest winning score to date. Defending champion Mirim Lee is also in the field, looking to capitalize on what has been a season of close calls for the world’s 20th ranked player who has four top-4 finishes including two runner-up's this season.
Want Another Win
Eight winners of the 2016 LPGA Tour season are in the field this week in China, including two-time winners Ha Na Jang, Sei Young Kim and Haru Nomura. All three are making their first start in this event. Jenny Shin is one of the few winners this season with experience playing at Reignwood where she finished T-19 in 2014 and T-51 in 2013.
You're Invited
Four players received a special invite to compete this week including former world No.1 Yani Tseng who has struggled in 2016. Tseng is in search of her first top-10 of the year this week in China where she finished T-19 in 2014 and sixth in 2013. Amateurs Yifan Ji and Jingwen Zhang also received invites, as well as Ying Luo.
